IMAA 5

Made the title shorter to save time. This project is due this Monday. I have a lot to do in little time, so let's get right into this.

Episode 5: Whiplash

Forgive me if I summarize this fast and skip scenes, but I don't have time. This show is on Netflix, so if it seems interesting, watch it there.

The episode opens with Pepper's father on a mission talking to Pepper on the phone. Logical issues of talking to a loved one while on a FBI investigation aside, he sneaks into a building, hangs up the phone, and is ambushed by two red, glowing ropes of energy. A scream into the night is a perfect excuse to cue the intro.

Rhodey nags Tony for not sleeping and tells him to talk to Pepper.

Tony's locker has a water cooler now. Pepper tells Tony and Rhodey that her dad is missing, but Tony ignores her.

Pepper is taken out of class and told that her father is in the hospital.

In the hospital, Pepper finds her father is unconscious and covered in bandages. Pepper is told that her dad will be ok, but is asked if he worked with power lines. Pepper's father wakes up and mentions the name Mr. Fix before passing out again. Tony and Rhodey enter the room and Pepper, understandably blows up at Tony for ignoring her.

Tony and Rhodey get worried about Pepper and Tony becomes determined to help.

Pepper searches for Mr. Fix on her dad's FBI laptop, which alerts Mr. Fix that someone is looking for him. He gives the order to, and I quote, "Make them stop."

Villain of the day description, Mr. Fix looks like if Cyborg from the original Teen Titans cartoon gave up on being human and Matrixed himself into the internet. Did I just add a new bit to this blog halfway through? Yes. Why? Because. Also, he has a pointed goatee.

Pepper continues her search of the database as an unmarked black van pulls up near her house, releasing a lot of darkly dressed dudes with guns. The dudes then enter the house and find Pepper. Kicking the door in, they find the room empty as Pepper jumped out the window into the alley below.

Pepper calls Tony as Mr. Fix starts tracking her phone. Pepper explains what happened to Tony and Rhodey and is chased further down the alley. A cool chase scene happens where the goons show off their spectacular stormtrooper aim, literally missing at point blank range, where Iron Man eventually comes to save Pepper. They notice their comms were hacked and shut them down, but Mr. Fix heard Pepper say she was headed to Rhodey's house. Mr. Fix figures out who she meant.

Pepper reveals that she knew Tony is Iron Man. Tony drops her off at Rhodey's house.

Inside the house, Pepper finds Rhodey tied up by a person with robot arms and retractable metal whips. That person releases Rhodey and Iron Man blasts through the door behind Rhodey and Pepper, slamming the person with metal arms through the opposite wall.

Villain of the day description two, Whiplash looks like if Deathstroke wore a gas mask with three filter tubes and had his arms replaced with metal arms and metal skeleton hands. His whips are cool, figuratively speaking of course. They actually have a red glow from the electricity coursing through them.

Whiplash knocks Iron Man out cold and, instead of killing him right then, gets distracted and chases Rhodey and Pepper. Tony wakes up. Rhodey tries to save Pepper, but gets caught, only surviving due to Mr. Fix calling and telling Whiplash to focus on the girl. Pepper finds Iron Man on the ground and tries to wake him up, finding the armor empty. Whiplash catches up and Iron Man comes back in a new, black and white suit. This one absorbs electricity, I think. A fight scene happens, ending in Whiplash being electrocuted and exploding.

Pepper becomes a third member of the team, ending the episode.

I liked this episode and thought the villains were pretty cool. Not the most emotionally deep episode, but it was interesting how it dealt with Pepper's dad and her relationship with Tony and Rhodey. Overall, I look forward to seeing what's next.
